Carbondale’s Jason Jablonowski Earns State Medal in Javelin

Congratulations to Jason Jablonowski for placing 7th in 2A javelin at the recent PIAA state championship. We love to see talent from our alma mater, Carbondale excel at the state level.

Tommy and I are former Carbondale Area track team members. I even threw a little javelin back in the day.

We apologize for being late to the party with this article, but we don’t get back to Carbondale very often. Also, the Carbondale News’ website is so bad that I’d rather poor hot sauce in my eyes than read it.

Today, I was finally able to read Larry Gabriel’s article on local track athletes and noticed his note about Jablonowski. We knew we had to feature him on our site as well!

CarbondaleNews.com: “CA’s Jason Jablonowski earned a seventh place medal in the javelin.”

My mind started to wonder as I wrote this blog and I got nostalgic. If I really think back, I would have to say that Larry (Coach, to me) Gabriel would be my first introduction into the world of sports journalism. It’s probably a safe bet to say the same rings true for Eddie, Paul and Tommy. So, I guess we should thank him for all the success that The Point After Show is experiencing. Thanks, Coach Gabriel!

I don’t think Big Lapas is on the Twitter, so I’ll be citing another local legend, Joby Fawcett.

While poking around Joby’s twitter, I noticed that Jablonowski was named to the “2017 Lackawanna Track Conference Coaches’ All-Star Team.” That’s a mouthful. It’s also a huge honor. I also noticed that Joby doesn’t have a mullet anymore. So, his twitter was really a roller coaster of emotions for me.

TimesTribuneBlogs.com: “Carbondale Area’s Jason Jablonowski has been what we call in track circles a “lifer.” He has been one of those steady athletes who has stayed true to the sport and been rewarded. The state meet can be very unforgiving and when he started his competition in the Class 2A javelin with a foul and a throw 30 feet less than his best, I began to worry. But, he came through with a solid effort on his final attempt. He paced nervously around the warm up area as officials went over the results to determine who would make the final. When he heard the cutoff number and he had made it, you could just see a joy overpower his emotions. When he was presented his state medal, he took a deep sigh of satisfaction.”

Congratulations again, Jason Jablonowski!
