Daily Fantasy Football Strategy Week 4

Week 3 Recap

I really didn’t get much action in play for week 3…A) I didn’t feel terribly comfortable with the lineups I was creating earlier in the week and B) I had to paint the garage floor Sunday morning #DadLife.  Sometimes life happens and we don’t the volume in play that we hope but they beauty of daily fantasy sports is tomorrow is another day.

Daily Fantasy Football Strategy Week 4

Quarterbacks

I’m switching up the format a little bit this week and highlighting my top 5 overall plays at each position, regardless of price, and offering 5 value options as well.  My lineups will likely have a blend of each bucket as you can’t afford to jam in all of the “Top Plays” and you don’t want to focus solely on the “Value Plays” since we need the raw point totals as well to cash in our contests.

I am going to continue to spend down at the QB position.  Yes, Tom Brady is a smash play most weeks and I have no qualms against stacking him and whichever pass catcher(s) from the Pats you want to stack him with any given week.  But in cash games I’m looking for a cheap QB in a good matchup with a decent team total.  I like this spot for Siemian, at home, versus the Raiders who just got shredded by Captain Kirk last week on national TV.  If you want a low owned option playing against a team bleeding yards to the QB position so far this year…ladies and gentleman, I present you Cam Newton…crickets?!?  He’s been bad, very bad so far but in a game we expect the Panthers to trail he should have the opportunity to rack up yards and points.  Whether he’s capable (how injured is that shoulder?) is another question but you have to be willing to go off the board in gpps.

It’s a shame the Sunday night game between my Seahawks and the Colts isn’t on the DraftKings main slate.  I love this game for the Seahawks across the board

Running Backs

With some tight pricing this week, I think if Matt Forte is declared inactive, Bilal Powell is going to be the chalk cheap option people flock to.  Powell was very good at the end of last year in Forte’s absence.  I weeks 14-17 (4 games) he racked up two 100 yard rushing games, an 11 reception game in another, and three total TDs.  When he’s given the bulk of the work, he has stepped up to the challenge.

No need to elaborate much on Zeke really.  He’s being more heavily involved in the passing game this year and he’s at home versus the Rams who just gave up 39 points to the 49ers last week.

Wide Receivers

I think the “Big 4 WRs” are fairly obvious at this point (I’d probably add Jordy Nelson as the 5th but he played last night).  AB is the best WR in football and any list should probably have him first but I’m interested in going back to the well with A.J. Green this week.  He saw 13 targets versus Green Bay and now gets a dream matchup with the Browns who have surrendered 11 receptions for 182 yards to AB and 7 receptions for 153 yards and 1 TD to T.Y. Hilton so far.

I keep playing some Demaryius mixed into my lineups most weeks and every Manny Sanders TD just makes me cringe.  But this is a great spot for DT to finally get in the endzone vs the hapless Raiders secondary.

Tight Ends

The top three are pretty clear at the TE position with a significant drop-off from those studs.  We know the Denver CBs will slow down Cooper and Crabtree which means Jared Cook should get a small bump in market share.   ASJ saw six targets last week fot the Jets and without a true number one WR could continue to see volume at a cheap price tag.

Team Defenses

I don’t like to overthink my DEF picks.  I’m usually paying up for a big home favorite in a great matchup or finding a cheap home favorite in a less desirable spot.  The Cowboys look to be the bargain chalk defense this week.

Good luck in week 4 Pas-Holes!  Leave me some feedback on the format change.  Love/Like/Hate?
