TOP STORY: Twins offense goes bananas

The Minnesota Twins offense went absolutely bonkers on Tuesday night. Eight of nine batters in the lineup had at least two hits. As a whole, the team set a franchise record tallying 28 hits in the game.

Left fielder, Eddie Rosario, batted 4-5 with three home runs; Eduardo Escobar (3B) went 5-6; Catcher Jason Castro ended the night 4-5 with four RBIs; Max Kepler (RF) went 3-5 with a home run and two RBIs; and, Kennys Vargas (DH) batted 4-6 with four runs scored. The Twins, who lead the AL Central division, beat the visiting Mariners 20-7.

  • Lance Lynn, P, Cardinals = No runs on 3 hits in 5 innings while piling up 8 strike outs (5-3)
  • Derek Holland, P, White Sox = 1 run in 6 innings with 5 Ks for the win (5-6)

  • CC Sabathia, P, Yankees: Anticipated 10-day DL stint after straining his left hammy in Tuesday’s game.
  • Zack Cozart, SS, Reds: Was out Tuesday due to quad tightness. Listed as day-to-day.
  • Ben Zobrist, 2B, Cubs: Considered day-to-day with nagging left wrist injury.
  • Michael Fulmer, P, Tigers: Won’t start Wednesday (today) due to right shoulder bursitis. He is day-to-day.
  • Brandon Woodruff, P, Brewers: Placed on the 10-day DL with right hammy strain.
  • Tim Beckham, SS, Rays: Out of the lineup Tuesday with a sore knee. He is day-to-day.
