The Menzingers – Bad Catholics | Friday Pump Up Jams with Cavi

It’s about that time of day. Let’s get you pumped up for whatever you have in store this weekend. Be it working late, a pick up basketball game or in my case, a ton of beer pong at a bachelor party in the Poconos. As mentioned last week, I’m a sports guy, but I’m THE music guy. So, take my word for it. Bad Catholics by The Menzingers is an absolutely weekend jam.

Get pumped, it’s Friday!

The Menzingers recently put out “After the Party,” an album that many are are saying might be the best album released in the rock genre this year. “Bad Catholics,” the single off the album is about church picnics in North Eastern Pennsylvania. That’s right. The Menzingers hail from Philadelphia, PA, but they were born and raised in Scranton, PA.

Let’s explore the lyrical references:

We should’ve never thought that we could get stoned
And drive around with just a half a pack of smokes
Bottle of Clear Eyes and appetite
We were pillaging the Turkey Hill on Main Ave in West Side

Another summer and another church picnic
I watch a mother run around in a panic
Chasing a kid with his orange soda mustache
While his father’s by the gambling wheel
There I saw you in the beer tent

I don’t know if it gets any more NEPA than a gambling wheel and beer tend at a church picnic.

P.S. The Menzingers shot this video at The Vault in West Side. Shout out the Vault for having awesome hot wings.
