Tannehill’s Injury – Problem or Ploy?

Dozens of Dol-fans held their breath Sunday afternoon as they saw their leader, the guy who’s gutted out below 500 seasons for the last five years limp, off field. They saw this and thought to themselves; with an older population in the area you’d think they’d be able to get a golf cart to drive him into the locker room instead of Tannehill taking the painfully long walk of shame out of the spotlight. Many feel that losing Miami’s Ironman that they will gracefully fall out of the hunt for the playoffs as Matt Moore leads them the last 3 weeks of the season. Many believe that but I believe it’s pure genius to lose your starting QB at this time of the year and the reason is simple, 2 words: P90X.

P90X, which hit the scene nearly half a decade ago, has been a staple in the “lose a ton of weight without lifting weights” ideology. Created by seemingly legendary workout man Tony Horton, P90X is based around one ultimate principle and that’s muscle confusion. The idea being that just when your body gets comfortable with the workout you’re doing and making gains, then with a swift BOOM(tough actin tinactin) you go ahead and start a completely different workout. If you think about it, it’s a real sneak attack by you on yourself only to benefit yourself in long run. If you think about it deeper, it’s really the false flag of exercise. This is exactly what the Dolphins plan is going forward. Miami has the Jets, Bills and Patriots to end the season. Teams that are very familiar with the work of Ryan Tannehill. What better way to confuse your opponent then to have them prepare for someone they know very little about? This is precisely the edge that Miami needed to get out of the hunt and into the big game which for them would be a game on the road as a wildcard team.

As for Tannehill, we all should’ve known something bad was going to happen when he attempted one of their patented WR screen passes, something he does about 40 times a game and the ball went 400 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Like Donny who loved bowling, from the Big Lebowski missing that strike then dying at the hands of a heart attack, we should’ve seen the warning signs. He should feel really good about the situation besides the pain he’s feeling from the explosion his knee endured because now he can focus on taking his game to the next level. I’m a bit of an AFC East historian and I know to get to a Superbowl, as a QB in south Florida, you need to blow out your knee at least once. Hope they’re telling Ryan this.

Ryan should also stop acting so spoiled. Plenty of athletes have performed on the field without having an ACL, such as Hines Ward and Mickey Mantle. Many have “performed” well off the field without an ACL too, such as Joe Namath and Tiger Woods. I’m a firm believer if you have two then you have too many, so I’m glad there shouldn’t be any ligament controversy heading into next season.
