Week 6 Fantasy Football Panic Button

There comes a time, in every fantasy owner’s season, where the worry starts to set in that the fantasy “juggernaut” they drafted back in August is potential a huge fantasy “buster” by October. I’m going to give you my advice on whether you need to hit the “Panic Button” or not. Here are some big names, most likely drafted in your first two rounds, keeping your blood pressure high and excitement low through week 5. So, here’s you Week 6 Fantasy Football advice.

Lamar Miller, RB – Houston Texans (ADP 11.5)

Lamar Miller is a player I have personally never been big on. He struggled to get anything going with the small opportunity he had in Miami, but never looked 1st round fantasy material to me. His trade to Houston was supposed to give him new life, but so far it has been mediocre at best. I am not hitting the Panic Button on him because he does a lot in the passing game for them, but unless Osweiler starts to develop into a better quarterback he will continue to be mediocre.

Verdict: NO PANIC BUTTON – Temper Expectations

DeAndre Hopkins, WR – Houston Texans (ADP 7.9)

Sticking with the Houston Texans, DeAndre Hopkins was a fantasy monster last year for many owners. His stock was at an all-time high coming into this season with expectations of top wide receiver written on the wall. Reality check, Nukdabomb has averaged under 9 targets a game and around 12 points per week as your WR1. The emergence of Will Fuller and Miller has cut into his targets and add the inefficient play of Brock Osweiler and you have Nukdabum.

Verdict: PANIC BUTTON – Look to trade while his has name value.

Odell Beckham Jr, WR – New York Giants (ADP 2.5)

Well, no one saw this coming. OBJ is not only getting beat up mentally by defensive backs, but also physically by kicking nets. Currently averaging about 11 fantasy points per game and has only found the end zone once would make any owner feel sick. I can say I personally have OBJ in my league of record. I took him with the second overall pick and I know there are better days ahead. Manning typically gets better in the second half of the year and he will begin to target OBJ much more in the coming weeks.

Verdict: NO PANIC BUTTON – Breakout coming

Dez Bryant, WR – Dallas Cowboys (ADP 14.6)

Another season and another injury for Dez Bryant, leaving his fantasy owners hating life and wondering what to do. I will tell you this, you can go either way with Dez and a lot of his ROS(Rest of Season) is dependent on who his quarterback ends up being. If I am a Dez Bryant owner I am going to abandon ship immediately and this is the perfect week to trade bait someone. Dez is on the cusp of returning after his week 7 bye, but what does that mean for value? In the first three games he played this year he averaged under 8 targets and 9 fantasy points. Couple that with one of the harshest schedules ROS against fantasy WRs and you have a disaster waiting.

Verdict: PANIC BUTTON – Look to trade while his has name value and before his bye week.

Brandon Marshall, New York Jets (ADP 19.4)

Brandon Marshall didn’t start the season the way his owners had anticipated but it wasn’t completely his fault. You see his quarterback thought the object of football was to throw it to the other team. A lot! In seriousness though, with Eric Decker being placed on IR this week, the upside for Marshall is through the roof. To prove my point, he has been targeted an average of 13 times over the last two games without Decker. Jets will be in pass mode almost every game and Marshall will be exactly what you expected.

Verdict: No PANIC BUTTON – A must start every week!!
