Last Minute Fantasy Football Ed-vice (Week 4)

“Ahhhh! F@%K!!”

Deep, soft, echoing voice:  Calm down. Take a deep breath and relax. Now, tell me what’s wrong?

Me:  God? Is that you?

DSEV:  No, dumbass. It’s your inner conscience. What’s going on with you today? Why did you almost kick the oven?

Me:  Ugh, fantasy football. It seems like every week my team has a newly injured player. When will this misery end?

Fake God:  Injuries are unpredictable and mainly cases of sour luck. You just have to hang tough, do your homework, and remain positive.

Me:  Thanks for the advice, DAD, but what if the replacement players I pick up either suck or also get injured.

Fake God:  Well then that’s probably Real God’s way of telling you you’re an asshole.

The injury report is the most feared facet of fantasy football. Nowadays, it tends to happen more than ever that players get added to team injury reports mid-week. There’s nothing worse than getting a notification on a Wednesday or Thursday and seeing one of your star players with a never-before-seen “questionable” tag…the dreaded label that haunts us each day leading up to Sunday. Even worse is when your alternate bench player for that position just so happens to be on their bye that week. Don’t freak out. This situation happens to every fantasy team owner at one point or another throughout the season. Miraculously finding a decent last minute free agent addition is very unlikely come Friday or Saturday. Players with projections in the mid to low single digit range are going to be your only option…especially in deeper leagues. Hang tight, my friends. We’ve all been there. Look at who’s available, matchups, etc. When in doubt, go with your instinct. And maybe even say a little prayer to Real (and Fake) God for some fantasy luck…it couldn’t hurt.

Best of luck to you all! Keep an eye out for my “#craycray Predictions of the Week” post coming next week. And don’t forget to check out the first episode of the Point After Show podcast on Tuesday, October 4th.
