Fantasy Football Week 7 Advice

Ed’s Cray Cray Ed-Vice: No Woman, No Cray

As we begin our journey into my fantasy football week 7 advice, I have a question for you. What’s the craziest thing you have ever done? Once, while scaling cliffs in Utah, I slipped and plummeted down a small canyon getting trapped under a two-ton boulder in the process. I had no choice but to amputate my arm with a Swiss Army knife for survival. Okay, okay. Maybe I’m not being totally honest here. I guess I’ll come clean…it was actually my foot.

Fantasy football can be crazy in its own right. Player inconsistencies are about as frustrating as trying to eat white rice with a pair of chopsticks. Well for me anyways. Just give me a fork and everyone will be happy.

But, do not get down on a player because of a not-so-productive week in fantasy. Understand the matchup your players are going to face prior to Sunday so you don’t set yourself up for disappointment. You will always start your studs but lower your expectations for them when they play a tough defensive team. If you listen to me, I promise that the probability of you cowering in a dark room while crying alone to Dashboard Confessional on Sunday reduces by 75%.

After reviewing this week’s matchups and by using my keen fantasy football intuition, here is who I expect will outscore some of the bigger fantasy names in week 7. Whether I am right or wrong, please promise you won’t go and get all emo on me. Just in case, I’ll hide the razor blades and skinny jeans.

Giovani Bernard (vs. CLE) Fantasy Football Week 7 Advice

Scores more fantasy points than David Johnson (vs. SEA) and Todd Gurley (vs. NYG)

It’s been pretty clear the past two weeks that Gio is the new starting running back in Cincy. The Bengals play the Browns at home week 7 which is like playing Green Tree High School’s football team. He should have no problem racking up the fantasy points on Sunday. This is going to be a big performance for Gio.

Golden Tate (vs. WAS) Fantasy Football Week 7 Advice

Scores more fantasy points than Julian Edelman (at PIT) and Emmanuel Sanders (vs. HOU)

It only took him six games but Golden Tate is finally being discussed as a fantasy relevant receiver again. One game doesn’t mean diddly-squat in fantasy football but I think the golden era for Tate owners has just begun for 2016. He is not always going to put up the 8/165/1 stat line like last week, but he will produce as a WR3/flex more consistently going forward.

Marcus Mariota (vs. IND) Fantasy Football Week 7 Advice

Scores more fantasy points than Andrew Luck (at TEN) and Eli Manning (at LA)

I harped on him last week in my “Ed-vice” and I will harp on him again. Marcus Mariota is a solid QB2 with QB1 potential…as we witnessed last week. The Titans upcoming games: home against Indy then home against Jacksonville. Two juicy (cue Notorious B.I.G.) matchups for Mariota.

Jacob Tamme (vs. SD) Fantasy Football Week 7 Advice

Scores more fantasy points than Coby Fleener (at KC) and Travis Kelce (vs. NO)

Tamme has not had a start-worthy fantasy performance since week 2. I have a hunch about him this weekend at home against a piss poor San Diego pass defense. Lots of fantasy action in this game. Tamme will score a TD.

New York Jets (vs. BAL) Fantasy Football Week 7 Advice

Scores more fantasy points than Seattle (at ARI) and Minnesota (at PHL)

This might be the craziest one yet. The Jets defense, especially the secondary, has been a steamy pile of poop as of late. I do strongly feel that there is still potential there, though. Week 1, they had seven sacks against the Bengals. This week’s home game against Baltimore will be a low scoring snoozer to watch, but if you need a spot start defense, consider the Jets in this one.

These are my words of “Ed-vice”. I would suggest you listen to them, but as always, go with your gut.
