16 NBA players test positive for COVID-19, kiss basketball goodbye

It turns out that 16 NBA players have now tested positive for Covid-19 after the NBA tested 302 people on Tuesday. That’s all that is currently positive. However, we may see more information come out.

BleacherReport.com: “The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association issued a joint statement Friday to announce 16 players tested positive for COVID-19 from 302 tests conducted Tuesday.”

The players who tested positive will need to remain in self-isolation until they have met all health protocols and/or have been cleared by a doctor.

The league halted games back on March 11. This round of testing was part of the league’s preparations to restart the season in July. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT NOW.

The league had decided to create a “bubble” environment and play out the playoffs at the Disney World complex in Orlando, Florida. Here’s the problem with the bubble, guys… it keeps stuff out. But, if it gets in… it keeps stuff in as well.

We’ll see if the eight-game finish and play-in tournament actually happen now. We’re only a month out from the July 30 start date. But, now you need to factor 2 weeks of self-quarantine in for those who tested positive.

As of now, the NBA says that they haven’t altered their plans. I guess we’ll wait and see.

BleacherReport.com: “Indiana Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon and Sacramento Kings teammates Jabari Parker and Alex Len are among the players to publicly announce their recent positive coronavirus tests, per ESPN.”

Fun fact. The NBA didn’t include the results for coaches, staff or other people in the league. So, WHO KNOWS how much COVID is floating around the league.
