Patent Pending – One Less Heart to Break – Friday Jam

This week’s “Friday Pump Up Jam” isn’t exactly a “Pump Up,” it’s just more of a great“Jam.” This week, I present to you Patent Pending and “One Less Heart To Break,” as a reminder that I’m a sports guy, but i’m THE music guy. Upon learning that Chris Cornell’s death was ruled a suicide, this song immediately came to mind.

I’ve known the Patent Pending dudes for years and have always been a fan of the positive energy and message they put out. One that always struct me about their concerts was when the lead singer Joe, would tell the crowd, “If you’re going through anything, you always have someone to talk to, you’ve got 5 guys in this band and we’re hear to listen.” The positive message and genuine nature of Patent Pending served the band well, their career has grown by leaps and bound in recent years. They will heading out on tour with Simple Plan soon, be sure to check it out!

The same goes for The Point After Show, we love all of you (even if we don’t know you). If anything ever seems like it’s too much and you’re at the end of your rope, reach out to us. If it’s on Twitter, Facebook or e-mail – we’ll listen. We’re not qualified to do anything more than listen, as we’re just asshole sports bloggers, but we’ll listen.

If you or someone you know needs help, please call: 1-800-273-8255

POSITIVITY ALERT: On a personal note, I’d like to wish my man, Joe Rogosta congrats on his upcoming twins. Congrats, dude!

Patent Pending – One Less Heart To Break

Small town, just north of the city
There’s a girl all alone by the window in need and she
She’s thinking that this worlds too much to take
And they could use one less heart to break
She stares down at the world below
Fools herself to thinking she should just let go, I know
I wish she knew she wasn’t so alone
She left us a letter to outline the facts
How she felt so alone like the world turned their backs
Her parents don’t notice she’s slipping away
She’d still be around if she just heard them say

It’s the ups and downs of living life this way
Promise me you’ll never go away
Just stay with me through one more night
Because it’s always darkest before the light
And now I promise you I’ll never turn away
I won’t let you give us one less heart to break

Flash back to early that year
Between his home life and school he wished he’d just disappear, I know
He’s thinking that this worlds too much to take
And they could use one less heart to break
Whole world comin’ down on his back
He takes a bottle of pills and then he’s finished with that, I know
I wish he wasn’t so alone
He left us a letter to outline the facts
How he felt so alone like the world turned their backs
His parents don’t notice he’s slipping away
He’d still be around if he just heard them say
It’s the ups and downs of living life this way

Promise me you’ll never go away
Just stay with me through one more night
Because it’s always darkest before the light
And now I promise you I’ll never turn away
I won’t let you give us one less heart to break
