Someone Needs To Explain What the Word “New” Means to the Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions unveiled their “new” uniforms last night in a 13 minute, mostly pointless, twitter live stream. The only problem? I wouldn’t exactly describe the uniforms as “new.” “Slightly tweaked,” would describe them more appropriately.

Let’s explore…

Um… So… Awkward.

I mean, Matt Stafford looks lean-as-fuck in the “new” uniform. In the “new” picture he also appears to be standing in the shadows and someone might have run the “vignette” Instagram filter on him. So, if by “new” they mean, Stafford shed a pounds in the off season? Winner. He also looks to be about 2-3 inches shorter in the “new” uniform. Good thing? Probably not. I’m guessing it was just a bad photoshop job.

But, let’s give the Lions a chance to explain themselves.

I actually like the new Logo. The ad agency that got millions of dollars to design a logo that a college kid would have done for $500, actually earned their money.

The logo will now be outlined in Hono-fucking-lulu blue instead of silver. My mind is officially blown.

P.S. I dig the triple stripe.

Here we go again with the Honolulu blue. No one in 1934 was concerned with calling this color “Honolulu” blue. Shit was called blue. Maybe… just maybe… “Detroit Lions Blue,” if you were fancy. The great depression, world worlds and other shit took president over calling this Honolulu blue in the 30’s.

Ok, they also chose a slightly different font for the numbers. Boom.

So, the pants will stay silver. Man, Detroit is really trying trying to drive this Honolulu blue thing home.

Shit. We’ve got Honolulu blue stripes. Let’s go!

Now, this is what I’m talking about…

I have hated every single Color Rush jersey alternative the NFL has done. I don’t hate this. Actually, kind of the opposite. I absolutely love this. That dark gray is dope. I even LOVE the Honolulu sleeve stripes. The dark grey pants with no striping are accented with the solid dark gray socks. Fire.

These Detroit Lions Color Rush Jerseys are FIRE.

Give me a 15 minute live stream about those.
