#BostonStrong, always. How about a little #CarbondaleStrong as well? Because, the Carbondale, PA entrants in the 2017 Boston Marathon showed up!
Earl Granville, a local hero in his own right, made national news when he not only finished the Boston Marathon on his prosthetic leg. Hold up. If that wasn’t enough, he also carried a woman (his guide) across the finish line on his back!
WNEP: “BOSTON — A wounded veteran from Lackawanna County is capturing hearts with his brave gesture during the closing moments of this year’s Boston Marathon.
Army Staff Sergeant Earl Granville of Carbondale can be seen carrying a woman across the finish line in a Facebook video from Boston’s ABC affiliate WCVB. The has been viewed more than one million times.
Granville was on his third deployment to Afghanistan in 2008 when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. Granville has competed in multiple marathons using a hand bike. On Monday, he completed the Boston Marathon without a bike.”

Earl grabbed the headlines (and rightfully so), but we also want to recognize local runner, Joe Kelly for his accomplishment as well. Through investigative journalism (looking at Facebook statuses) we discovered that Joe finished the race, while being injured. We certainly tip our hats to that.
The guys at The Point After Show couldn’t even DRIVE a marathon in 3 hours and 22 minutes. Joe ran it. Great job, Joe!
