Is BeastMode a Homophobe?

“BeastMode Don’t Take Pix with Men…”

This was the greeting everyone received while attending a recent photo appearance by Marshawn Lynch at his Beast Mode Apparel shop in Oakland last Sunday. Apparently, Mr. Lynch has some strange rule when it comes to taking photos with him.

No bullshit, I saw this sign when some people tried to take a pic with Marshawn and he referred them to the sign.

It appears this is an actual serious rule for a Marshawn Lynch photo signings and it begs the answer. Why? Why is a man unwilling to pose in a picture with another man? I find this especially ridiculous when you think about how Marshawn became famous in the first place. He played a sport watched mostly by men. According to Adweek/ Harris Poll  Adweek/ almost two thirds of U.S. adults say they watch NFL football (64%), including almost three quarters of men (73%) and over half of women (55%).

I recently wrote about the privacy I believe celebrities deserve when facing the public, but when you are welcoming people’s money to meet you and take a picture with you I find this rule appalling.

The only logical explanation to Lynch’s unwillingness to take a picture with another man is he is potentially a homophobe. As a long time Marshawn Lynch fan I will leave the door open to another explanation, . I never had a problem with his social anxiety toward the media. I thought his antics toward the media, specifically during the SuperBowl was entertaining, but it will be hard to sell me on this stunt.

I’m sure his public relations manager is currently working on a statement for him to not read to the media. You know since he can’t be fined for not talking to them anymore.
