It’s a Wonderful Life; Week 15 Fantasy Football

‘Tis the season for an abundance of holiday movies to clog your DVR. When you’re not nervously watching your fantasy team teeter on the brink of playoff elimination, you’re likely spending your evenings getting into the holiday mood by putting on your favorite Christmas special. Fantasy football playoffs increase stress and anxiety. My week 15 fantasy football advice to you is to sit back, relax and let those old Christmas classics calm your nerves.

Provided below is my personal list of holiday favorites that I just know will put everyone in the Christmas spirit and ease fantasy playoff tension.

A Christmas Story

This beloved holiday movie follows the wintry exploits of wide receiver Joshie Huff, who spends most of his time dodging a bully–his inner demons–and dreaming of the ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder glock nine.” Previously at odds with his cranky dad (Philadelphia Eagles), but comforted recently by his doting mother (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Joshie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his responsibilities and glasses intact.

Jingle All the Way…out of playoffs

Sam Bradford and company mug shamelessly through this holiday slapstick about a guilt-wracked Vikings team racing around Minneapolis trying to buy a win without their injured turbo man, Adrian Peterson.

Love Actually

Nine intertwined stories of football stars examine the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all at Christmas: love. Among the characters explored are Peyton Manning, a graphic designer whose devotion to his mentally ill brother, Eli, complicates his love life, and Bill Belichick, a married man tempted by his attractive secretary, Tom Brady.

Home Alone

Eight-year-old Bryce Petty has become the man of the house overnight. Accidentally left behind when the Jets rush off on a Christmas vacation, Bryce gets busy decorating the house for the holidays, but he’s not decking the halls with tinsel and holly. Two bumbling burglars (Ryan Fitzpatrick, You’re the Worst, and Geno Smith, Like Mike) are trying to break in and rob Bryce of everything, but up his sleeve is a bewildering battery of booby traps set to welcome them!

An Antonio Brown Christmas

Christmastime is here. Happiness and cheer. And for Steelers fans everywhere, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without this classic holiday delight. Christmas lights may be twinkling black and yellow, but Antonio Brown has the Yuletide blues. To get in the holiday spirit, he takes Pouncey’s advice and directs the Christmas play. And what’s a Christmas play without a Christmas touchdown? But everyone makes fun of the short, spindly 1-yard touchdown Antonio Brown gets – until the real meaning of Christmas works its magic once more and he goes deep for a 60-yard score.rr

Good luck to all still alive in fantasy playoffs! As always, when in doubt, go with your gut!
