Fantasy Baseball Update – August 2

Here are today’s top fantasy baseball player performances, as well as injury news, on your favorite MLB players.

TOP STORY:  Evan Almighty

With two outs in the ninth inning, Evan Longoria was a double shy away from his first career cycle Tuesday night. Longo smacked a liner into left, raced to second, slid and beat the throw. The hit capitalized a night to remember for the 31-year-old third baseman.

The three-time All-Star had been dealing with plantar fasciitis most of the season which has been his Achilles Heel (pun definitely intended). Now having at least two hits in four of his last seven games, it’s hopeful that the nagging foot injury has subsided and Longo can return to his elite offensive prowess which led to his 2008 AL Rookie of the Year award.

Longoria ended the night 4-5 with a homer, triple, double, single, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. The Rays beat the Astros 6-4 in the contest.
