Anquan Boldin Retires, Zay Jones Stock Skyrockets

After 14 years as one of the most prolific wide receivers on the NFL, Anquan Boldin is hanging up his cleats. We all respect Boldin’s choice. But, I’m sure that fantasy football owners wish he’d decided it before they drafted. This leaves the door wide open for rookie receiver, Zay Jones!

There’s no need to panic yet if you drafted Boldin. If you took him it was probably in a late round any way. I’m sure Zay Jones went undrafted in a lot of leagues. Go and pick him up. Seriously, pick him up now if he isn’t already taken. If Jordan Matthews isn’t ready to go week 1, Zay Jones will become the #1 wide receiver in Buffalo.

If you already drafted Zay Zones, you got great value. I took him in the 10th round of my draft this weekend and I’m stoked about the value of that pick.

After not being an extremly high profile draft pick, Zay Jones has now found himself in the position to be one of the most prolific rookie receivers of the 2017 season. Sammy Watkins got traded, Anquan Boldin retired and Jordan Matthews fractured his sternum. Jones is the last man standing.  He’s also known for having amazing hands and for being a precise route runner. That’s good because he’s now the Bill’s top receiving threat. He has amazing fantasy football value and is a legitimate deep threat. Owners can safely expect yards and touchdowns to pile up. He should be owned in all leagues and formats.

ESPN: Football has been a priority for Anquan Boldin. But after 14 seasons, more than 200 games and nearly 14,000 yards receiving, the veteran wide receiver now feels a higher calling, which is why he left the Buffalo Bills on Sunday after only two weeks with the team and plans to retire.

“Football has afforded me a platform throughout my career to have a greater impact on my humanitarian work, and at this time, I feel drawn to make the larger fight for human rights a priority,” Boldin said in a statement to ESPN.com. “My life’s purpose is bigger than football.”
