The Corpse of Derrick Rose is now a Cavalier

Derrick Rose has committed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers for a veteran minimum contract.

Yay? I guess. Rose is one of the last “big names” left in free agency and to be honest, I’m ready for this NBA off season to be over. It has been relentless. I can’t escape it.

If he can get back to form and become a contributor, $2.1 million is a steal for the 2011 NBA MVP. This is a cool story, but If Kyrie Irving actually leaves Cleveland, this will become a huge story. Because, Derrick Rose would most likely become the starting point guard.

Alas, the Cavalier will still have a point guard that can’t play a lick of defense.

Of course LeBron James had his hands all over this. I’m not sure how Derrick Rose is going to enjoy the LeBron blame game. Only time will tell.

ESPN.com: “Free-agent point guard Derrick Rose has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to ESPN and multiple reports.

It is a veteran minimum salary of $2.1 million, sources said.

The defending Eastern Conference champions met with Rose and his agent, B.J. Armstrong, on Monday. The 2011 MVP is expected to sign his contract as early as Tuesday.”

Where does this leave us?

  • LeBron is over his break-up with Kyrie Irving.
  • Derrick Rose has positioned himself to be in the running for a NBA Championship.
  • LeBron is stoked on his “Rose” ceremony.

“You wouldn’t ask why the Rose that grew from the concrete had damaged petals.”

Never forget the comeback of Derrick Rose in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015…
