Rest In Peace Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin

Rest in Peace, Big Black. I’ve always been a huge Rob Dyrdek fan. The guy became a business mogul and the face of skateboarding, despite having a mediocre professional career. He never even had to appear in a single X-games to become a house hold name. Ask the average American to name another skate boarder? Tony Hawk, Shaun White, Ryan Sheckler and Danny Way. It’s a short list. But, without Big Black, Rob Dyrdek likely wouldn’t have achieved the level of celebrity that he currently has. There was something real and genuine about the friendship between that a skinny white skateboarder and a giant black man that we all gravitated to. Most of reality TV is fake, but you could never deny the genuine friendship that Rob and Big shared. I didn’t take a celebrity insider to tell you that these two were truly boys in real life. Anyone that has ever had a best friend, knew it was real.

Big Black

NYDaileyNews: “Rob & Big” star Christopher (Big Black) Boykin died Tuesday.

He was 45.

The MTV personality died of a heart attack, his rep told People.

Boykin, who served in the Navy, was hired by skateboarder Rob Dyrdek to serve as his bodyguard in a promotional skit for DC Shoes.

The two then turned that partnership into “Rob & Big,” an MTV reality show that followed Boykin and Dyrdek in their daily lives.

The show ran for three seasons, from 2006 to 2008.”

Rest In Peace Big Black. Do Work Son.

Okay, now you can cue my crocodile tears…

Truly one of a kind. Thank you for everything.
