It’s A Good Day On Darrelle Revis Island

All in all, it’s been a good Wednesday for free agent, Darrelle Revis. In February, Revis was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, one count of robbery and another for conspiracy, stemming from an altercation he had at 2:30 a.m. outside a bar in Pittsburgh.

Four Felony Charges Have Been Dropped Against Darrelle Revis

Today, the charges were dropped when his friend, Rashawn Bolton (who was also involved in the altercation), admitted that it was he who punched the man that was filming Revis. Bolton also claims that it is him that can be heard in the video, standing over the lifeless body of a guy that he almost knocked into the afterlife.

I said this when it happened, I don’t condone violence. But, if you’re going to stick a camera in a guys face at 2:30 a.m. in an alleyway, after a night of drinking, then you have to expect someone to go upside your head. I get that they are allowed to do it and everything. I also get that the law says you shouldn’t be touched if you’re doing something like this, but we know full well that is not how the world actually works. Whatever punishment is brought upon Bolton is justified, albeit stupidly justified, but justified nonetheless. Here’s a pro-tip: when you see a celebrity or pro athlete in a dark alley, after the bars have closed, don’t shove a camera in their face. This will increase your odds of NOT getting sent to dreamland by 100%.

On the football side of this, this should help Revis find work. He might have to wait until after the draft, but I’d be shocked if he isn’t on a team in 2017. If Terrance Newman can get signed for his 15th season today, than the owner/janitor of Revis Island should have no problem finding a team who can use his services.

I think it’s safe to say that Revis’s shutdown corner days are over, but he still has some gas left in the tank. After the lackluster year he had last year, his need to prove the doubters wrong should motivate him. It also may be possible that he has truly lost “it” and he’ll continue to be a shell of his former self. Who knows.

What I do know is that he has an incredible fall guy for a friend. If Bolton blasted this guy and is taking the heat for him, than you can rest assure that Darrelle listened to what Cris Carter had to say about having a fall guy in your crew. It just makes good business sense. Just ask Barry Bonds
