Super Bowl LI: History in the Making

With Conference Championships in the books, Super Bowl LI has been set. The Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots are ready to battle in Houston on Sunday, February 5th at 6:30pm.

This game has been making history since both teams were officially announced. With two dynamic offenses that can score at any time, Vegas opened the over/under at 57.5. That is a new record for the highest over/under line for a Super Bowl.

And, the record-breaking doesn’t stop there. Here’s a breakdown of other Super Bowl records that are in jeopardy.

Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots broke a record when they punched their ticket to Houston with most Super Bowl appearances by a team with (9). Brady breaks his own record with his 7th Super Bowl appearance. Belichick joins Brady for most Super Bowl appearances by a coach (7). With a win, Brady can break his tie with Terry Bradshaw (4) and Joe Montana (4) for most Super Bowl wins (5). Again, Belichick joins Brady with most Super Bowl wins (5) with a victory.

Even if the Patriots are on the losing end of this year’s Super Bowl, they can still set records. New England will tie the Denver Broncos for most Super Bowl losses (5) if the Falcons hoist the Lombardi trophy.

The Falcons, on the other hand, are trying to make their own history by bringing home Atlanta’s first Super Bowl title. The Vegas lines didn’t show the Falcons any love during preseason by opening them at 80/1 odds to win the Super Bowl. Hopefully there are some Atlanta fans holding tickets to cash come February 6th.

All in all, Super Bowl LI should be very entertaining for all sports fans. It is projected to be a high scoring game that should keep the audience’s attention and scoreboard busy. I predict that the Falcons will be celebrating their first Super Bowl win with a 34-27 victory over the Patriots in Houston.
