“This Was the XFL”

ESPN will premiere the “30 for 30” documentary, “This Was the XFL,” at 9 p.m. on February 2, 2017. If you remember, the XFL was a football league created through the partnership of WWE’s Vince McMahon and NBC Sports’ Dick Ebersol that has been quoted by many involved as being, “a mess,” “a f@#$ing disaster,” and “a failure.” These quotes are not to be confused with those in ESPN’s next documentary, “The WNBA.”


Johnny Twitter

Johnny Manziel told TMZ Sports this week that he is done with Twitter, stating that, “Twitter has been nothing but a distraction for me.” Yeah, Johnny. That’s what your problem is…Twitter.


Jamaica Stripped of Medals

Usain Bolt and the Jamaican 4X100m men’s relay team were stripped of their 2008 gold medals due to teammate Nesta Carter violating the International Olympic Committee’s doping policy. Bolt said in an interview, “It’s heartbreaking. I feel taken advantage of.”

Optimistic after hearing this, Olympic gold medalist diver, Greg Louganis, stated that he will continue to voluntarily submit failed drug tests to the Committee in hopes of that one day he will be stripped and taken advantage of.


Boogie Transfers to Hofstra

Former Long Island Lutheran High School woman’s basketball standout, Lauren “Boogie” Brozoski, has transferred from Michigan to Hofstra, the university announced Monday. When questioned as to why she chose to make the transfer, Boogie stated, “the girls there were really snotty.”


Super Bowl L1

Lastly, one of the biggest stories in sports this week, Super Bowl L1. The Tom Brady-led New England Patriots will face off against the high-flying offense of the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday night. This will be the first Super Bowl played under Donald Trump’s presidency. It will also be the first Super Bowl broadcasted in Russian subtitles.
